What started as an idle conversation has turned into a quest, and it all starts here, in Continental's Home Office in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. This is the first post in our "travel" blog, and to quote Maria Von Trapp singing "Do-Re-Mi" in the Sound of Music "Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start."
Menonomee Falls is our launching point. The name is difficult for anybody outside Wisconsin, as is evidenced in this video taken before Super Bowl XLV in Dallas. Menomonee Falls, besides being the home of Continental, is also home to national retailer Kohl's. Harley Davidson has a major manufacturing plant. The Village was named after the Menomonee River, which flows through it. The falls, right in downtown, are quite picturesque.
After leaving Menomonee Falls, we headed southwest just a few miles to Pewaukee, to the first stop on our journey, Bridlewood Apartment Homes. It is a lovely ride of just 13.4 miles, one of the shortest legs of our trip. Bridlewood is one of Continental's earliest apartment developments, and shares the positive attributes that all of our Springs communities share - especially outstanding customer service. In fact, Bridlewood enjoys a 100% recommended rating on apartmentratings.com! We didn't have much time to spend in Pewaukee, but we did have time to touch our toes into Pewaukee Lake (brrr). Fun fact about Pewauee: the name comes from Pee-wauk-ee-wee-nick, which means "the dusty water" or lake of shells in Potawatomi. Put that one on the list of hard-to-pronounce place!
Off we go - next stop: Springs at Kenosha!
WHERE ARE WE NOW?
