As a national real estate developer, it is natural for us to touch the lives of many people around the country. Through our multifamily, retail, and hospitality developments, we are able to provide housing, jobs, and help grow the local economies. The dedication of our in-house and onsite team members make this possible each and every day with their constant drive to "perform their work better than they have done before."
The Continental Cares Committee was formed in spring of 2018 to identify charitable organizations that we could partner with as part of our charitable giving campaign. The Committee conducted extensive research on a variety of organizations, both local to Wisconsin and nationally. The Committee focused on finding charitable opportunities that closely aligned with Continental’s core values, beliefs, and work ethic. We chose partners that would allow us to create a safe and inviting community for people to gather, along with the opportunities to volunteer and raise monetary donations. Upon completing our due diligence, the Committee selected the following three charitable organizations to partner with:
- Ronald McDonald House (www.rmhc-easternwi.org/)
- Revitalize Milwaukee (www.freehomerepairs.org/)
- Support Our Troops (We have a friend in the Wisconsin National Guard who gives us a contact each year for a Wisconsin Unit that is overseas.)
Over the last year, we held numerous fundraisers from which Continental offered a dollar-for-dollar match. With this funding, we were able to sponsor a home for the Revitalize Milwaukee Block Build which required a $5,000 minimum donation, serve two dinners to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, and send numerous care packages to Wisconsin Troops serving overseas!
During our latest fundraiser, we were able to purchase toys for the “Magic Room” at the Ronald McDonald House. This room is a special area within the Ronald McDonald House where siblings of sick children are able to go and select a special book or toy during a difficult time.
In the following months, the Continental Cares Committee, with the input from the Continental team, will decide charities to focus on for the remaining of 2019 and into 2020.
